This project, funded by a grant from Organic Gardening Magazine, is intended to showcase various types of environmentally responsible materials and technology.
We improved the driveway and parking lot, designed and constructed a green roof, a rain water collection system and a tool shed.
We used recycled crushed concrete on the parking lot and the driveway. FSC certified lumber was used for the tool shed. The rainwater collection system is designed to
highlight the storm water management benefits of the green roof. Collected water is used to wash off the vegetables grown by the students in partnership with Weaver's Way Coop.
We designed and manufactured a modular green roof system to allow for ease of future roof replacement. Local sedum varieties were used in the plant mix. Click here if you want to learn more about green roofs and their benefits.
